And there was one specific ring that I wanted, someday? Well Friday I got off of work early (yay Good Friday!) so I met The Boy uptown where he was working/getting ready for his show (that opened today) and waited around for him to finish. When he did, I was all, "Let's go to Tiffany + Co!" and since he works, oh, three blocks away, and we had nothing better to do at 5pm on a Friday we took a little trip so I could show him what I wanted, someday.

He had never been inside, and upon revolving in, his first utterance is, "This is it?" followed quickly by, "What ugly carpet!" Ugh. Such. A. Boy.

Anyway, I asked someone where I could find said ring and the very helpful lady said the 3rd floor, if they had any. Uh. Oh. Of course, they have exactly 1. And it's a size 4. Apparently they flew off the shelves like hotcakes and are not getting any more. Ever. But he swooned too when he saw it and agreed that it was pretty awesome. I did have the lady size my finger (a seven! a popular size!) so he could know when the time was right, wink wink.

And since no trip to Tiffany's would be complete without a little stop off on the 2nd floor of dazzling diamonds, we stopped on our way out. And we agreed that there was no need to spend $33K+ on a ring. pppppsht. He realized that he wants a diamond wedding band ("Why are you the only one who is allowed diamonds!?!" He exclaimed multiple times) and after trying on other rings and just sauntering around he was like, "what about this one?!" And I fell in love. Totally classic. Can be done on the less expensive side. etc etc etc. And he was like, yep, that's the one.

Of course he didn't buy it because he still doesn't have the money. We decided that the next piece he tries to sell will be titled, "Help Me Buy an Engagement Ring". ha. ha. ha.

And then we hop back on the elevator, which is pretty full, and the elevator operator says, "how'd you like that floor?" and The Boy's response, "The carpet is nicer!"

And everyone erupted into laughter.

Later that night he was all, "That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be." "Tiffany's or the prices?" I asked. "Both!" Which is always a good thing to hear.

______

So this is my little plea to the universe. Maybe sometime this Spring he could sell an etching or two. Or a painting. Or maybe be offered a little job that pays cash. Because the more I think about it, the more I can't wait to start our lives together.

</plea & cheese>

Photos

So the other day I saw this and was like, OMG I WANT TO DO THIS. I was quite stressed (again) about submissing my next little section to workshop and I was behind in reading I wanted to do and random chores and errands I needed to do, netflix was piling up, and I was worn the fuck down.

And then I got sick.

But then I got better. And yesterday I was full of energy and got so much done. Just knocked it out like it was nothing. A huge list of To-Dos all crossed and scratched and x'd out. Multicolored. Readings done. Chapters and short stories and sections from multiple books. Thank you notes written. Mail sent. Four pages of novel done. Yoga and my body was back to feeling stretchy and flexy.

And I could not have been happier about it all.

Today I saw The Boy after not seeing him yesterday (a rare occurance these days) and he was all, "whoa, you look really good!" and probably less about the fact that I had applied a coat of mascara and more about the fact that I felt aligned and at peace and happy and I think does fuck more for your lookin' good than piles of make up and pretending.

And it continued today. At work I had a review (I got a minor raise! yay!) that went well and basically spent a good chunk of the day listening to the second podcast of Oprah & Tolle and then started the third in between actually doing a little bit of work. Lunch of green beans and some mashed potatoes and salad was also supplimented by some Virginia Wolfe. I decided to shell out the $50 it would cost to repair my iPod battery, so my xmas gift from '04 is still ticking away happily and I did not have to shell out almost $400 for a new one and got to keep all my old, rockin' songs. Then had a bite to eat in Tribeca with my sweetie and came home to do some yoga.

Now I just have to do some writing and my day will be offically complete and happy and fulfilling.

I do like being back in the swing of things.

Two Videos in a Row?!?

Read a Book!

oooh, swish!

and candy for cuties!

Race

Communication

So the lesson that I learned last week was that:

a) if you and your significant other are both sick and one of you is a girl who happens to also be pmsing while the other is a boy so naturally his sickness means that he's going to die while your sickness is simply some sniffles (aka, The Man Flu) you will be bickering. a lot.

b) if one of those bickering sessions goes something like:

"lets go take a walk"

"okay"

... he continues to play iPod games

"are we going to go?"

"UGH! And I'm all, uh no. Call me traditional, but I want my family to be there. I explained that we can get married whenever.

BOYS!!! SO COMPLICATED. Instead of all the drama, just say, "uh, remember when you mentioned next fall? lets move that up."

Sheesh.

Also, I'm taking a sick day today. And its raining. And I'm hot. But I hope to catch up on many things since I'm mostly feeling better except for this totally wicked cough that appears but still thought not spreading those nasty cough germs throughout the office would be a nice move.

Broken Promises

So j/k on the drunken blogging. Turns out that last night instead of getting rowdy, I just passed out. at 10pm. I slept pretty fitfully, and eventually I woke up and threw up, but don't worry, it wasn't alcohol or liquid, it was just lots of mucus, which I learned is pretty much the grossest thing ever to vomit up.

So now I'm snuggling in my bed and finally getting around to watching some TED converstations and procrastinating from my work. But I'm very excited because it's spring break, so I don't have class this week, so I'll be spending that time writing. No procrastination then! I'm also feeling a little overwhelmed because I'm behind on the Oprah/Tolle podcasts and chapters, I have 3 awesome netflix movies that I'm excited to watch and I need to get some reading done for my classes next week. Plus, of course, the next 50 pages of my novel are due so soon. Ugh. But I'm trying not to stress my body and my mind & live in the present while knowing that it will all get done.

Mostly I'm concerned that I'm not coherant today since my head is clogged and I'm coughing at a rate of 5 coughs every 2 minutes or so and all I want to do is just rip my throat out of my neck so I don't really want to write, but maybe once it's later in the day and I'm feeling better (as the pattern goes...) I'll want to write. So I think now I'll stay snuggled and watch Suddenly, Last Summer with Katherine Hepburn/Elizabeth Taylor/Mongomery Cliff - because my writing teacher suggested I watch it since it deals with madness and is supposed to be really smart and strange.

ugh. I do not wish this strange, strange, sickness on anyone.

Don't Stop the Music

This week has been a total whorlwind. My sis and her friends left on Tuesday, and, well, I don't know, time flew the rest of the week. Today we're doing bday party redux since my roommates couldn't make it to the original party - this is including "all you can drink" brunch & then the german bar next door to our apartment. perhaps I'll have to do a drunken blog later tonight.

The Boy is getting over an awful sickness, I think now he has brochittus and today when I woke up (after a fitful, awful sleep) my roommate was all, "wow, you sound awful" so I'm just hoping that I'm not going to get crazy sick.

In other exciting news, I haven't had a pair of jeans fit me for like, months, mostly because I've gained weight and so buying new pants doesn't excite me, at all. But I finally broke down and got 2 pair from the gap and I love them and pants that fit well are super underrated, because they're awesome. And also, i love jeans more than dressy pants, which is basically what i've been wearing.

Anyway, I'm back, alive, and doin' well. w00t.
